PROGRESS 14: WALL (BOX) OF SENSOR MODULE

Thursday, August 16, 2012

Before I start to interface the sensor with Arduino, I need to ensure that there are no light interference from the outside other than the light that only will be reflected by the colour paper. The sensor only need to sense the colour of the light of colour paper to get a precise value or result.

In order to gain the precise result, I have made a box for the sensor module. This box will prevent the outside light from interfere the sensor to sense the exact colour of the colour paper. The height of this wall is 1.8cm.

PROGRESS 13: SENSOR TESTING 3

Wednesday, August 8, 2012

In order to get frequency same as the frequency average in the Sensor Testing 2, I need to reconstruct the wall of the sensor. After several testing, the suitable wall to get approximately same as the frequency average is 0.65 cm height compared to 0.7 cm height in the Sensor Testing 2. The result are as below:

PROGRESS 12: SENSOR TESTING 2

SENSOR TESTING BY USING OSCILLOSCOPE

Same as testing by using multimeter, the sensor tested by using oscilloscope to get the frequency (kHz) with 100% output frequency scaling (fo).

Before performing the test, the sensor had been covered by a wall with 0.7 cm height. The wall functioning to prevent the light from LED's to be directed towards the sensor. In other word, the sensor will only detect the reflection of light from colour paper. The frequency range and frequency average was determined. The frequency range determined by the position of the paper colour (closest and far of the sensor).

SENSOR TESTING BY USING MULTIMETER

Based on selectable option given in datasheet, a sensor testing was made with three different colour; Red, Blue and Green. The values recorded are in frequency (kHz).
